How We Engineer Metal Powders

MELTING

Metal is melted to a superheated liquid state.

ATOMISATION

The molten stream flows into an atomisation chamber, where it encounters high-pressure water jets.

BREAKUP

The water jets create instabilities, rapidly disintegrating the liquid stream into fine droplets.

SOLIDIFICATION

The droplets travel through the chamber, cooling and solidifying into solid powder particles while maintaining their chemical composition (pre-alloyed).

COLLECTION

The powder is collected in a dry, inert atmosphere to prevent oxidation.
